Mini marathons
I love this time of year - patio doors wide open, plenty of light still at gone 8.30pm, my garden a sea of tranquil green interspersed with a massive hedge of creamy roses. And the ubiquitous smells of barbecues from neighbouring gardens wafting on the early summer air. I'm admiring all my hard work of the past two days spent taming my jungle, which even included painting an entire length of fence - despite the scrubbing, I still look as if I've got a bad case of green chickenpox.
Work seems a long way off at such moments, but even logging on this evening reminds me that our Kent Life website has changed as recently as Friday, when Monkey and I were yet again in Worthing - we've got the brand-new addition of local, national and international news to keep us on our toes now, not to mention those all-important weather and TV listings, plus all the information you need from our current and past editions. Why go anywhere else?
Tomorrow, it's into top gear again for July press day on Tuesday - the 'day before' is often the critical one, sorting out the minute final detail, watching all the pages come together and, at the back of our minds, getting mentally geared up for the next edition. I often think that publishing is like a series of mini-marathons, you need to keep in tip-top condition, because the next one is never far away.
Will keep you posted asd to progress...
